Responsibilities
Be a part of the transformation

Conduct and develop computer modeling and analyses for transmission planning studies, which encompass steady state analysis, short circuit analysis, and dynamic stability analysis.

Studies may cover both near-term and long-term transmission planning, generator interconnection studies, alternatives development for reliability-driven transmission projects, and compliance analyses with industry standards.


Perform power system impact assessments:
Steady State, Short Circuit, and Dynamic Stability.
Conduct technical analyses related to compliance standards such as TPL-001-4 Annual Planning Assessments.
Execute comprehensive generator interconnection studies, which may also involve Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) assessments.
Ensure that renewable and/or storage resource projects connecting to the transmission network adhere to Voltage Ride-Through (VRT) requirements.
Engage in working group meetings and case building efforts on behalf of specific clients as assigned.
Prepare detailed technical reports for all studies conducted.
Process, generate, and maintain necessary data for all assessments.
Take ownership of the timely completion of assigned projects while adhering to quality and budget objectives.
Identify training requirements and communicate them to the Engineering Manager as necessary.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Power Systems Engineer III includes all of the above, plus:
Ability to provide on-the-job training or supervise the work of other Power Systems Engineers and Interns.
Manage multiple studies/tasks simultaneously.
Execute complex tasks following sound engineering practices and company procedures.
Capable of independently executing assigned tasks.
Participate in cross-functional teams to gather/provide input, address client feedback, and conduct technical studies.
Assist in developing tools, processes, and procedures that enhance the efficiency of engineering study completion.
Performance Criteria:
Quality of completed studies/tasks.
Efficiency in task completion (at or below budget).
Adherence to deadlines.
Growth in technical skills.
Qualifications
What you need to bring:
Staff I
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems.
Staff II
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems.
  • 3 years of experience as a power systems engineer.
Experience in conducting power system impact assessments such as Steady State, Short Circuit, and Dynamic Stability.
Familiarity with power systems software including PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA.
Experience in automation/programming using Python.
Staff III
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems.
  • 4 years of experience as a power systems engineer.
Experience in conducting power system impact assessments such as Steady State, Short Circuit, and Dynamic Stability.
Familiarity with power systems software including PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA.
Experience in automation/programming using Python.
