Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Director to lead our financial operations and fiscal planning functions. As the City's Chief Financial Officer, you will play a critical role in shaping our financial strategy and ensuring the effective management of our resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Direction
    • Provide strategic leadership to the Finance Department and ensure the effective implementation of financial policies and procedures.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership and other departments to support the operations of the City.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis
    • Develop and implement short- and long-range financial plans to achieve the City's goals and objectives.
    • Perform fiscal analysis and modeling to inform financial decisions and optimize resource allocation.
  • Accounting and Reporting
    • Direct the City's accounting and reporting operations, including maintaining accounting systems, establishing and maintaining internal financial controls, and preparing and directing required financial reports.
    • Conduct internal audits to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information.
  • Cash Management
    • Direct the City's cash management functions, including collecting, depositing, financing, investing, and disbursing public funds.
    • Develop and implement strategies to optimize cash flow and minimize financial risk.
  • Communication and Representation
    • Advise the City Manager and City Council on financial matters and make presentations to boards, commissions, and the public.
    • Represent the City at meetings with other agencies and organizations to coordinate financial activities and exchange information.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
    • Seven years of increasingly responsible professional public sector experience in accounting, budgeting, or fiscal management, including five years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make informed decisions.
