Job Overview

Aegis Worldwide is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Safety Specialist to join its team at its Croswell location. This role involves supporting the safety team by collecting data, maintaining safety equipment, and assisting in the evaluation and implementation of safety programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Safety and Safety Supervisors with the implementation and maintenance of safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide support to the Site Safety Supervisor with tasks such as:
    • Conducting regular inspections and inventories of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure they are in good working condition.
    • Organizing and tracking completed safety permits and forms to maintain accurate records.
    • Setting up and maintaining atmospheric monitors to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Assembling and maintaining lockout/tagout (LOTO) kits to prevent equipment damage and ensure employee safety.
    • Managing first aid kit inventories and restocking supplies as needed to ensure prompt response to emergencies.
    • Inspecting and testing emergency eyewash stations and showers to ensure they are functioning properly.
    • Performing fire extinguisher inspections to ensure they are in good working condition.
    • Maintaining accurate safety records for the site, including incident reports and safety training records.
    • Coordinating annual respirator fit testing and audiometric testing to ensure employee safety.
  • Participate in site safety inspections and collaborate with management to address any safety issues in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a member of the site safety committee, supporting the Site Safety Supervisor in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures.
  • Work with management to resolve safety issues identified through the company's safety reporting program.
  • Provide continuous support for all safety-related initiatives at the site, including training and awareness programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to ensure the safety and well-being of employees.

Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of experience in general industry or construction, with a focus on safety responsibilities. A bachelor's degree in safety or a related field may substitute for the experience requirement.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections and identifying hazards in production environments.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with employees and management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other software such as Adobe and ADP.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support safety initiatives.
