Job Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining all utility systems across KCTCS campus locations. Collaborating closely with the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor, this role involves troubleshooting and executing preventative maintenance on electrical circuits, motor controls, safety circuits, steam plant, and HVAC systems using specialized tools and expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoots utility systems, including electrical circuits, motor controls, and HVAC and steam plant systems
- Conducts skilled maintenance tasks in HVAC monitoring and upkeep
- Performs advanced electrical tasks such as installing receptacles, switches, breakers, ballasts, and replacing light fixtures
- Handles advanced plumbing tasks, including waterline repairs, valve maintenance, and drain line upkeep
- Executes advanced carpentry tasks such as drywall installation, painting, door repairs, and installation of partitions and flooring
- Conducts minor repairs and maintenance on equipment like tractors and vehicles
- Facilitates setup and breakdown of furniture for special events
- Responsible for securing buildings as required
- Performs snow removal and applies de-icing materials during winter
- Available for emergency response as needed
- Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED with three years of relevant experience, or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Special licensing may be required for operating certain equipment (e.g., forklift)
- Ability to lift heavy items, such as office furniture and equipment
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with staff and students
- Commitment to the mission of a community and technical college and to providing personalized maintenance services
- Demonstrated personal and professional integrity
