Job SummaryThe Somneuro Lab, directed by Dr. Rebecca Spencer, is seeking a full-time Research Fellow for an NIH-funded study on brain development, sleep, and memory in early childhood. This project is in collaboration with Dr. Tracy Riggins from the University of Maryland.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct experiments with young children, collecting MRI, behavioral, and sleep physiology data.
- Process and analyze data.
- Train and supervise undergraduate students and project assistants.
- Perform general administrative duties, including data management, scheduling meetings, and equipment maintenance.
- Assist with research protocols and compliance.
- Contribute to data dissemination through poster presentations and manuscript submissions.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Previous research experience with human subjects.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse populations.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, collaborate with others to formulate plans and objectives.
- Previous experience working with children.
- Experience managing research assistants or staff, collecting MRI and EEG/polysomnography data.
- Strong computational and programming skills.
- This position requires flexibility and mobility, with work taking place at various locations on campus and participant homes.
- This role involves placing electrodes, monitoring EEG waves, and requires high visual acuity.
- The Somneuro Lab focuses on sleep's role in memory across development and aging, using multiple tools to address these questions.
- The position is contingent on funding and requires a 2-year commitment, with the possibility of additional reappointment.
