Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Fellow to join our research team at the University of Massachusetts. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects at the interface of parasitology and vascular biology.
About the RoleThe Research Fellow will be responsible for maintaining primary cell lines and parasite cultures, conducting experiments with malaria parasites and primary cell lines, collecting and analyzing data, preparing media and reagents, and ordering and organizing lab supplies and reagents.

To be successful in this role, you will need a B.S. or B.A. in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or a related field, and 1-2 years of laboratory experience or a related Masters degree. You will also need to be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a research team, with good interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in basic molecular and cell biology techniques, microbiology techniques, and fluorescence/confocal microscopy would be an advantage. Training in techniques that are unfamiliar to the Research Fellow will be provided.
Working ConditionsThe successful candidate will be able to work in a lab environment and will be required to work full-time (40 hours per week) with typical work hours from 8:30am - 5:00pm on weekdays. However, research activities may sometimes be required outside of these weekday hours, with occasional weekend work, as part of the 40-hour work week.
Salary and BenefitsThe salary for this role is $32-40k, commensurate with experience. The University of Massachusetts offers a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
