Position Summary

The Centers and Volunteer Engagement Specialist plays a vital role in the administrative oversight of the centers and volunteer initiatives within the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). This position is responsible for coordinating activities and programs associated with CSWE's centers, including organizing meetings and related programming as necessary.

This role also supports the engagement of volunteers within the Division of Education, focusing on recruitment, involvement, and recognition efforts. The Specialist will communicate with advisory boards, members, and social work programs regarding center initiatives and volunteer opportunities, while also managing website updates and preparing correspondence and reports pertinent to center and volunteer operations.

Collaboration with the Director of Initiatives and Professional Development, along with other CSWE staff, is essential to ensure effective coordination of volunteers and center programming that benefits CSWE members and enhances social work education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer the coordination of CSWE centers and volunteer initiatives.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of active volunteers and generate reports based on volunteer representation and other relevant metrics.
  • Oversee expense reimbursements related to center activities, as applicable.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Initiatives and Professional Development to plan, implement, and evaluate center-related initiatives and programming, including the preparation of reports, schedules, and communications for various events.
  • Manage inquiries regarding volunteer opportunities within the Division of Education.
  • Verify volunteer eligibility and maintain accurate records of volunteer engagement and recognition.
  • Facilitate communication and logistics with speakers, CSWE members, and other participants as directed.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public and membership concerning center initiatives and programming.
  • Update the CSWE website and other platforms related to the Division of Education.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, including document preparation, email correspondence, filing, and organization.
  • Act as the staff liaison for CSWE commissions and councils.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (MSW strongly preferred) with experience in a national membership association, higher education, or social work.
  • Familiarity with educational associations, higher education, or social work is preferred.
  • Experience in volunteer management is essential.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cultural differences and diversity.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Commitment to principles of antiracism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse volunteer groups.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Experience with certification or continuing education programs is desirable.

Compensation

  • The salary range for this position is $60,000-$65,000, depending on experience.
  • CSWE provides a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and retirement contributions.

Additional Information

This position primarily involves sedentary work in an office environment, requiring extensive use of a computer screen. Physical demands are limited to the ability to use standard office equipment and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. Extended working hours and occasional travel may be necessary.
