Position: Orthopedic Hand/Wrist Surgeon at Cayuga Medical Center

As an Orthopedic Hand/Wrist Surgeon, you are integral to delivering exceptional medical services to patients. Your role involves diagnosing and treating a variety of orthopedic conditions, collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, and enhancing the overall health of the individuals you care for. Your specialized knowledge and empathy are vital in transforming the lives of your patients.

Position Highlights:
  • The practice encompasses multiple operating room locations and clinic sites, providing ample support from physician assistants.
  • This is a full-time employed role.
  • A blend of general orthopedic procedures with a primary emphasis on hand and wrist surgery is essential.
  • A fellowship in hand surgery is appreciated but not mandatory.
  • The ideal candidate should exhibit collegiality, teamwork, and a collaborative spirit.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Annual salary range of $550,000-$600,000
  • Generous time off including 7 weeks for vacation, continuing medical education (CME), and personal time
  • Annual CME allowance of up to $4,000
  • Incentives such as sign-on bonuses, relocation assistance, or student loan repayment options
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Patient Care
    • Conduct thorough medical evaluations and assessments
    • Formulate and execute tailored treatment plans for patients
    • Prescribe medications and other suitable therapies
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies
    • Perform necessary medical procedures and surgeries
    • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as required
    • Provide education to patients regarding their conditions and treatments
  2. Communication
    • Maintain effective communication with patients, their families, and healthcare colleagues
  3. Documentation
    • Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of patient records
  4. Clinical Expertise
    • Stay updated with the latest advancements in medical research and treatments
    • Engage in continuing medical education and peer review activities
    • Collaborate with other specialists to optimize patient care
    • Work in partnership with Advanced Practice Providers
    • Contribute to the education of clinical learners such as residents and students
  5. Quality and Safety
    • Participate in initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes
    • Ensure the delivery of safe and effective care to all patients
  6. Ethical and Professional Standards
    • Adhere to the highest standards of medical ethics and professionalism
    • Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy
    • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Doctorate MD or DO from an accredited medical institution
  • Completion of a residency or fellowship relevant to the specialty
  • Board certification or eligibility in the appropriate specialty
  • Possession of an unrestricted DEA registration
  • Ability to obtain Medical Staff Privileges within the health system
  • Current and unrestricted medical license in the applicable state
  • Strong clinical acumen and knowledge of evidence-based practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Compassion and dedication to patient-centered care
  • Ability to work effectively within a healthcare team
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and CME participation
Working Environment:
  • Clinical settings including hospitals and healthcare facilities
  • May involve on-call duties and weekend shifts as necessary
