Job Summary

Cayuga Health System is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Oncology team as a Clinic/Chemo Infusion Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and patient-centered environment, providing exceptional care to individuals with cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, obtain vital signs, and review lab results for all patients.
  • Administer chemotherapy and/or biotherapy per physician orders, ensuring confirmation of dosing based on the most recent labs and weight.
  • Verify treatment orders and medications, collaborating with a second RN or pharmacist for confirmation.
  • Monitor for adverse effects or infusion-related reactions, responding appropriately, and managing side effects while providing education on proper self-care during treatment.
  • Provide patient-specific education, including chemotherapy teaching sessions and regimen treatment plans and schedules.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to address patient-specific needs, report any concerns to the physician, and review previous treatment and recent physician notes to ensure appropriate regimens and labs are reviewed prior to treatment.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
  • New York State Registered Nurse licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience.
  • Experience in chemotherapy administration.
Work Environment
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, unit-dose cassettes, and IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
Pay Range
  • $35.50 to $44.25 per hour.
