Eligibility
This position is open to the public, specifically U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or individuals with allegiance to the U.S.

Key Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer (Instructor), you will:

  • Act as the primary consultant to the Commanding Officer, providing expert guidance in engineering and instructional domains related to aviation.
  • Deliver instruction on aviation structures, overseeing the technical curriculum of the Aviation Safety School.
  • Manage and supervise assigned personnel, ensuring effective teaching and learning environments.
  • Develop and refine course materials, including curricula, lesson plans, assessments, and grading standards.
  • Engage with instructional staff in practical exercises and feedback sessions to enhance course delivery.
  • Serve as a substitute instructor for Aerodynamics and Investigations courses.
  • Collaborate with mishap investigation teams on technical and engineering issues concerning aerodynamics and aviation structures.
  • Represent the organization at meetings and seminars, presenting findings and academic papers on aviation safety and investigations.
  • Oversee the crash lab facilities, acting as a resource for Parts and Crash Laboratories.

Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Meet federal employment suitability standards.
  • Participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance.
  • Possess a valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Be willing to travel as required.
  • Be able to deliver lectures for extended periods, including outdoor sessions.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a professional engineering degree and relevant experience, demonstrating expertise in:

  • Teaching aviation structures with advanced knowledge of aeronautical engineering principles.
  • Preparing and delivering presentations, evaluating student performance, and developing distance learning courses.
  • Creating and updating educational materials for aviation structures courses.
  • Providing leadership and supervision to technical personnel.

Additional Information
This position may offer flexible work arrangements, including part-time, full-time, or ad-hoc telework options. Recruitment incentives may be available for eligible candidates.
