We are currently in search of a dedicated and skilled Senior Platform Engineer specializing in Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) and Landing Helicopter Assault (LHA) to become part of our team.

The Surface Maintenance Engineering, Planning, Program (SURFMEPP) is responsible for the oversight and enhancement of maintenance strategies for all non-nuclear surface vessels, ensuring they are prepared for their operational lifespan. This includes the formulation of lifecycle strategies to address system enhancements and the integration of the Class Maintenance Plan into each vessel's maintenance timetable and availability planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and validate the existing Class Maintenance Plan (CMP) through engineering evaluations and data analysis. Update CMP requirements based on a thorough review of actual costs and assist in the formulation of CMP tasks for modernization initiatives.
  • Oversee CMP Processing activities, which encompass the creation, upkeep, and monitoring of Baseline Availability Work Packages (BAWPs) and Availability Work Packages (AWPs). Ensure CMP content is validated through comprehensive reviews of relevant manuals and technical documentation.
  • Prepare and present maintenance and modernization documentation and strategies to various levels of the maintenance team, including senior leadership.
  • Generate and deliver ship-specific documentation to support Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE). Conduct in-depth reviews of ship maintenance entries to identify requirements and budget implications.
  • Assist in the creation and presentation of Technical Foundation Papers detailing lifecycle maintenance requirements to ensure vessels achieve their Expected Service Life (ESL).
  • Support SURFMEPP personnel in addressing inquiries from various governmental and budgetary agencies.
  • Develop metrics for processes and products, ensuring alignment with future readiness requirements, and utilize these metrics to recommend enhancements to the CMP and related processes.
  • Maintain the integrity and accessibility of the Class Maintenance Plan and associated databases for surface vessels.
  • Support the review of Technical Feedback Reports related to CMP requirements.
  • Assist in managing CMP notifications regarding deferrals and technical requests.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience with Naval vessels.
  • Proven experience in communication with senior command and naval personnel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of LHA/LHD-class vessels, including Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems, combat systems, and weaponry.
  • Qualification as Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) or equivalent civilian experience.
  • Prior experience as a Port Engineer or Assistant Port Engineer.
  • Experience with depot-level maintenance, including planning and execution phases.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a current/active U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform sedentary work, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods in a stationary position.
  • Ability to navigate the office environment and operate office equipment.
  • Professional communication skills with colleagues and clients.
  • Capability to board a ship in operational and industrial settings.
  • Must be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time.
  • Occasional movement within the office to access files and communicate with team members.
