Position Overview
This role involves overseeing and directing the activities of team members to align with the division's strategic goals, ensuring the timely and high-quality completion of assigned tasks.

Key Responsibilities
- Assign and manage the workload of subordinates to meet division objectives.
- Organize and execute significant radiological emergency simulations to assess preparedness levels and conduct regular training for emergency response teams.
- Act as a representative for the organization in discussions with state and local emergency management and public health entities.
- Assess and determine the organizational and budgetary needs of the division.

Employment Conditions

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in federal service or comparable experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must include:

  • Expertise in federal, state, local, and Department of Defense radiological control regulations, along with advanced knowledge in health physics and nuclear engineering.
  • Experience providing strategic advice to senior management on radiological control matters, leveraging in-depth knowledge of naval shipyard operations.
  • Proficient communication skills for effective representation in public forums and negotiations with regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to lead and integrate a diverse team of professionals, ensuring clear and precise communication.
  • Experience in managing administrative functions within a shipyard and executing project development and training initiatives.

Educational Requirements
Applicants must meet the educational qualifications set by the Office of Personnel Management, which include:

  • A professional engineering degree from an accredited institution.
  • Registration as an Engineer Intern, Engineer in Training, or Professional Engineer.
  • Successful completion of relevant coursework in engineering or a related scientific field.
