Position Overview
You will take on the role of a SENIOR NUCLEAR SYSTEMS ENGINEER within the Fluid Systems and Mechanical Engineering Division, contributing to the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department.

Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties will include leading nuclear engineering initiatives related to the comprehensive lifecycle of naval vessel propulsion systems, specifically focusing on Rotating Machinery.

You will report directly to the Assistant Division Head, overseeing all aspects of the assigned area of responsibility.

Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Providing technical oversight and guidance on nuclear propulsion systems.
  • Reviewing and approving Technical Work Documents (TWD) and administrative documents to support reactor plant operations.
  • Distributing and managing workload among team members.
  • Collaborating closely with production teams to address and resolve technical challenges during the production phase.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and technical staff to ensure they meet their organizational objectives.
  • Preparing and approving correspondence to address technical issues or propose enhancements.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate a minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or in a comparable role in the private sector.

Specialized experience should include:
- Serving as a principal consultant to senior management on nuclear-powered naval vessels and associated systems.
- Providing technical oversight for engineering drawings and specifications, as well as the planning and construction of nuclear facilities.
- Directing junior engineers and technicians in project execution and resolving technical or administrative issues.

Education Requirements
Applicants must possess a professional engineering degree from an accredited institution or meet equivalent educational criteria as outlined by the Office of Personnel Management.
