Job Summary

The Peer Specialist (Youth) plays a vital role in providing support and guidance to children and youth in crisis, working closely with master's level Crisis Specialists to ensure comprehensive care. This position requires a unique blend of empathy, communication skills, and knowledge of community resources to help youth navigate complex systems and access necessary services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in crisis intervention and stabilization efforts, working under the direction of the assigned Crisis Specialist.
  • Collaborate with children, youth, and their families to understand their needs and preferences, promoting a culture of respect and understanding.
  • Assist youth in accessing referral sources and engaging with entities serving their needs, leveraging personal experiences to build trust and rapport.
  • Participate in case reviews and communicate with youth and families regarding adjustment and crisis plans.
  • Attend regular supervision and debriefings, as well as in-service trainings and meetings, to ensure ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clinical records and respect the human rights of consumers.
  • Document all services in the electronic database within 24 hours of service.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Peer specialist certification or lived experience.
  • Experience navigating child and family serving systems.
  • Ability to access community resources and address youth mental health needs.
  • Valid local driver's license and clean driving record.
