Position Overview:

The Information Security Analyst (Network Security) plays a crucial role in continuously assessing, monitoring, and enhancing IT security protocols across the Ninth Circuit, with a primary focus on safeguarding network integrity. Responsibilities encompass incident management, educational initiatives, best practice implementation, and comprehensive risk evaluations regarding potential threats and vulnerabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer expert guidance on the design, acquisition, and deployment of network systems for court units.
  • Address technical inquiries from court units concerning national network security standards, including compliance with the Administrative Office of the United States Courts' Scorecard.
  • Provide specialized knowledge on firewall configurations, DNS, and various network technologies.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of network security settings and protocols.
  • Assist local courts in establishing effective network access control measures.
  • Utilize cybersecurity tools for ongoing surveillance and analysis of system activities to detect suspicious or harmful actions.
  • Analyze log files from diverse sources (e.g., host logs, network traffic logs, firewall logs, and intrusion detection system logs) to identify potential security threats.
  • Ensure prompt detection and notification of possible attacks, unusual activities, and misuse incidents, distinguishing them from benign occurrences.
  • Conduct risk assessments based on the CIS Critical Controls, providing expertise in network security.

  • Competence in public speaking and delivering structured, confident training sessions on IT security topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders using tact and diplomacy.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Security+ or Network+ certification to be obtained within one year of employment.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional IT experience.
  • Strong grasp of IT security best practices.
  • Proven ability to collaboratively analyze, design, and implement effective IT solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Cisco CCNA or similar certification.
  • CISSP, CISA, or similar certification.
  • Experience in implementing and/or evaluating the CIS Critical Security Controls.
