Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team at City Light & Power, Inc. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex electrical projects and contribute to the growth and success of our company.

Job Summary:

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems, including sub-transmission systems, substations, and distribution systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power systems analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems, including sub-transmission systems, substations, and distribution systems.
  • Develop concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, and analysis for small-scale system improvement projects.
  • Develop and review complex electrical system models and validate system study findings and recommendations.
  • Develop electrical specifications for major electrical apparatus.
  • Create system models for large-scale power systems and perform various power system analysis and studies.
  • Develop bills of material and technical specifications for various electrical projects.
  • Schedule and attend field walk-downs with customers, subcontractors, and construction personnel to understand and determine project requirements.
  • Perform field take-offs and evaluations for estimate preparation.
  • Update and maintain GIS databases for large-scale electrical distribution systems.
  • Perform site surveys for major upgrade projects and develop concept designs.
  • Prepare cost estimates for large-scale electric distribution and substation projects.
  • Analyze electrical fault events, power quality issues, and system loading scenarios and assist crews to implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in estimate review processes with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist construction personnel throughout the project life cycle in tracking and understanding basis of cost estimates.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance and support to help them grow in their professional careers.
  • Project management: prepare construction schedules, submit RFIs to clients, and act as point of contact for facilitating design review processes and addressing open items.
Requirements:
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with emphasis in power systems.
  • PE license required.
  • Eight plus (8+) years of work experience in electrical utility industry.
  • Solid background with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution systems.
  • Expert with power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination.
  • Experienced working with blueprints, specifications, and proposals for preparation of time/cost/labor estimates.
  • Must be a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Benefits and Compensation:

We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off, and paid holidays. Salary range: $130,000-$165,000 based on experience plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan. We reserve the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range based on factors unrelated to sex.
