Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer Leader to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing and leading electrical design teams on complex projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Manage and lead electrical design teams on projects from initial planning to final design phase.
  • Discipline Engineering: Manage the electrical discipline on projects to meet customer and project requirements regarding scope, scheduling, and budgets.
  • Liaison: Provide a liaison between discipline engineers and project managers with respect to project scope, budget, scheduling, and overall engineering and design requirements.
  • Technical Coordination: Maintain technical coordination with the principal engineer to ensure adherence to industry codes, regulatory requirements, and sound engineering practices.
  • Reporting: Direct the preparation and submission of periodic reports and forecasts on the status of the electrical discipline.
  • Continuing Education: Comply with state requirements for continuing education and maintain and obtain licenses as requested.
  • Team Development: Continually upgrade technical knowledge and capabilities and pursue additional coursework and training.
  • Performance Management: Advise the project engineering manager regarding the status of assignments with respect to schedule, budgets, delays, and adverse problems.
  • Employee Evaluations: Work closely with the chief electrical engineer and project engineering managers on employee evaluations and promotions and the overall technical improvement of the group.
  • Estimating: Lead the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and monitor the effect of these on the budget.
  • Estimating: Able to lead all aspects of electrical estimating.
  • Mentoring: Responsible for performance management and mentoring.
  • Process Improvement: Provide assistance to projects to address technical issues related to process improvement.
  • Training: Assist in training and mentoring/coaching other team members.
  • Training Programs: Assist in the development of training programs within the area of technical expertise and conduct training sessions as appropriate.
  • Relationships: Create positive working relationships with peer leaders and create productive relationships with organizations both within and external to engineering.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from a 4-year accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15+ years of experience in electrical engineering/design of DOE, DOD, or power projects.
  • Management Experience: 5+ years of experience in managing/supervising medium to large electrical design teams.
  • Advanced Experience: Advanced experience must include physical design, control, protection, metering, and communication requirements for facilities, including specifying and sizing electrical equipment, power system analysis, and utility interfaces.
  • Discipline Knowledge: Strong understanding of process, mechanical, civil, structural, architectural, and instrumentation disciplines.
  • Communication Skills: Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
  • Professional Engineer License: Must have a Professional Engineer License (PE).
  • Security Clearance: Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • US Citizenship: US Citizenship is required. Must not have dual citizenship.
