We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in power systems to join our team at City Light & Power, Inc. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems, including sub-transmission systems, substations, and distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical systems, including sub-transmission systems, substations, and distribution systems.
- Develop concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis, and engineering estimates for small-scale system improvement projects.
- Develop and review complex electrical system models and validate various system study findings and recommendations.
- Develop electrical specifications for major electrical apparatus.
- Create system models for large-scale power systems and perform various power system analysis and studies.
- Develop bills of material and technical specifications for various electrical projects.
- Schedule and attend field walk-downs with customers, subcontractors, and construction personnel to understand and determine project requirements.
- Perform field take-offs and evaluations for estimate preparation.
- Possess and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to utility power distribution systems.
- Update and maintain GIS databases for large-scale electrical distribution systems.
- Perform site surveys for major upgrade projects, develop concept designs, and present designs to management and customers.
- Prepare cost estimates for large-scale electric distribution and substation projects.
- Keep up to date with utility industry standards and codes.
- Enforce and maintain all applicable standards and codes for our O&M, replacement, and new installations.
- Analyze electrical fault events, power quality issues, system loading scenarios, and assist crews to implement corrective actions.
- Participate in estimate review processes with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist construction personnel throughout the project life cycle in tracking and understanding basis of cost estimates.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance and support to help them grow in their professional careers.
- Project management: prepare construction schedules, submit RFIs to clients, act as POC for facilitating design review processes, and addressing open items as requested by clients.
Requirements:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with an emphasis in power systems.
- PE license required.
- Eight plus (8+) years of work experience in the electrical utility industry.
- Solid background with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution systems.
- Expert with power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination.
- Experienced working with blueprints, specifications, and proposals for preparation of time/cost/labor estimates.
- Must be a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- You must be a U.S. citizen.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to travel out of state to project sites.
- You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.

- We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off, and paid holidays.
- Salary range: $130,000-$165,000 based on experience plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
