This role involves significant regional travel and requires on-call availability.

Key Responsibilities

As a Donor Family Coordinator / Family Support Liaison, you will play a crucial role in guiding and educating the next-of-kin of potential donors about their options regarding donation. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Facilitating Donation Authorization: You will present donation opportunities to families and secure authorization from suitable candidates. This involves providing essential education and resources while promoting the significance of organ and tissue donation and addressing common misconceptions.
  2. Providing Compassionate Support: Your role will require you to offer empathetic support to donor families throughout the donation process. This includes assisting families, addressing their concerns, and serving as a resource, while also clarifying the medical team's serious diagnosis.
  3. Collaborative Engagement: You will work closely with attending physicians, healthcare professionals, KODA donation coordinators, chaplains, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Qualifications
  • A college degree (Associate or Bachelor level) in social work, allied health, psychology, counseling, healthcare administration, business sales, marketing, or a related field is required. *Applicants with incomplete secondary education may be considered with relevant experience and a commitment to complete their studies.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, teaching, nursing, hospice, healthcare, counseling, or other public service-related fields is required.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and collaborative decision-making is relevant to this position. Backgrounds in hospice care, grief counseling, pastoral work, social work, or nursing (RN, LPN, CNA) are examples of suitable experiences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to provide compassionate support to families.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams and navigate complex healthcare settings.
  • A commitment to promoting organ and tissue donation and raising awareness about its importance.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and be available on-call.
