Job Summary

The InsideHigherEd STEPS Kinship Navigator position is a critical role in supporting kinship caregivers and their families. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with caregivers, social workers, and other stakeholders to provide guidance, resources, and support to ensure the well-being of children in kinship placements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consultation and Guidance: Provide objective advice to kinship caregivers on options for caring for their relative or fictive kin child, including the requirements, responsibilities, and expectations of each option.
  • Resource Connection: Connect kinship families with relevant resources and programs to support their needs, including referrals to assistance programs.
  • Form Completion and Data Entry: Review and complete all kinship-related forms with caregivers and enter data into online portals.
  • Point of Contact: Serve as a point of contact for kinship caregivers who have questions or need future assistance.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work cooperatively with Department of Community Based Services staff to ensure timely services are provided to kinship families.
  • Training and Support: Connect kinship families with the Kentucky Kinship Resource Center programming for continued support, resource connection, and training.
Requirements
  • Education: BA or educational equivalency
  • License/Registration/Certification: N/A
  • Physical Requirements: Sitting for extended periods, typing, bending, and lifting up to 20lbs
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment, with occasional travel to caregiver homes within the region.
