Job Title: Social Skills Development Coach

Job Summary:

The Social Skills Development Coach will be responsible for fostering inspiration, confidence, and supporting students in building valuable and meaningful relationships. The role will assist students in developing and practicing effective social communication skills and encourage students to access, explore, and engage in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Social Skills Curriculum: Instruct social skills curriculum through individual sessions, including aspects of social communication, awareness, behavior, and confidence.
  • Support Program Areas: Instruct and support program areas of Reframing, PEERS, and Social Mentoring.
  • Accompany Students in Real-Life Experiences: Involve students in everyday, real-life experiences by accompanying them to local venues, college clubs, community activities, and places that match their area of interest to practice their social skills.
  • Assess Student Social Skills: Assess student social skills strengths and challenges and assist in student goal setting.
  • Communicate Progress Reports: Produce and communicate individual social thinking session notes, monthly group notes, and progress reports to the Social Skills Coordinator.
  • Plan and Supervise Weekend Activities: Assist in planning and supervision of weekend activities in collaboration with life skills for all students to participate in to practice social skills.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Associate's degree (or in pursuit of) from an accredited institution in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field is required. Bachelor's degree is preferred. 1+ years related experience or training is required.
  • Knowledge and Expertise: Education or training in educational approaches, methods, and support for persons with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other learning differences is highly preferred. Experience in the field of autism and/or learning disabilities is highly preferred.
  • Other Requirements: An Active Driver's License is required.
