Job Description

Overview

The General Manager is accountable for overseeing comprehensive plant operations while ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction by achieving results and surpassing expectations in critical areas such as safety, service, quality, and cost efficiency. This role also encompasses the business development aspects of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the activities of all production personnel, coordinating production and shipping timelines based on the availability of raw materials and finished products.
  • Provide active leadership as a hands-on manager, focusing on mentoring and coaching staff while addressing employee relations matters.
  • Assist plant administration in maintaining adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Take charge of all employment-related decisions within the facility.
  • Support and execute cost management initiatives and process optimization within the plant.
  • Drive local business development efforts for the plant.
  • Regularly assess operational activities, including local transportation, to ensure compliance with all relevant Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Promote safety enhancements (Zero Harm) throughout the plant.
  • Guarantee the consistent application of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in alignment with the PMS Commercial Organization and Global Supply Chain.
  • Encourage new business opportunities.
  • Deliver optimal operational practices and cost efficiencies while upholding essential quality and raw material utilization standards necessary for customer satisfaction and plant profitability.
  • Ensure compliance through collaborative efforts regarding all Standard Operating Procedures within the plant.
  • Identify and implement Lean initiatives to effectively reduce waste.
  • In collaboration with the Plant Manager, provide guidance to plant staff in recruiting, training, developing, evaluating, motivating, delegating, and monitoring their performance.
  • Enhance asset utilization efficiency through effective transportation scheduling, dispatch, and driver management while meeting customer expectations.

  • Annual budget: $5-20M
  • Single location management
  • 20 direct reports

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Preferred certification in Six Sigma or Lean methodologies.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role within an engineering or manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with private fleet management and transportation is advantageous.
  • Strong orientation towards customer service.
  • Proven capability in managing a diverse workforce, including non-exempt production staff.
  • Demonstrated success in fostering positive employee relations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Experience in managing safety performance and related programs.
  • Understanding of supply chain practices and performance metrics.
