Position Summary:
The Engineering Project Specialist will provide essential engineering and project management assistance to senior management, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager in overseeing engineering initiatives.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to establish initial project requirements.
- Identify the appropriate funding source for projects, whether capital or operational expenses.
- Conduct preliminary Return-On-Investment (ROI) assessments for potential projects.
- Create designs, budgets, drafts, and schedules for projects valued under $50,000 using MS Project.

- Manage all project-related documentation, including Purchase Orders, Change Orders, and Cost Control Tracking, ensuring thorough tracking from initiation to closure.

- Reconcile project cost tracking with accounting records to ensure timely project closure.
- Utilize the Project SharePoint site for effective project management and team collaboration.

- Regularly review and update construction and material specifications to align with quality improvement standards.

- Supervise engineering projects as directed by the Project Manager, guiding them from scoping through to completion.

- Act as the owner representative in managing engineering construction projects and collaborate with production and other departments to achieve project goals.

- Provide detailed status reports, project updates, and ongoing cost analyses, while tracking significant issues.

- Assist in the preparation of the annual capital budget alongside the Project Manager and Director of Engineering.

- Demonstrate flexibility in managing multiple projects under pressure and meeting deadlines.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in Project Management within a manufacturing context.
- Proven track record of completing at least three medium-sized capital projects in a food processing environment.
- Experience in project management within engineering or construction firms serving the food and dairy sectors.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
- Demonstrated capability in managing capital projects and evaluating new manufacturing technologies.
