About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Technical Content Manager to join our Developer Content Team at DigitalOcean. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading parts of our content strategy, managing a team of technical writers, and ensuring high-quality technical content is published on our Community website.

Key Responsibilities
  • Content Strategy: Brainstorm new topics and guide writers by providing editorial feedback on our articles, which cover software development, DigitalOcean products, managing Linux infrastructure and servers, and installing and configuring software.
  • Team Management: Manage a team of technical writers, providing editorial feedback and guiding them as they grow their skill sets.
  • Content Creation: Write, edit, and publish tutorials about real-world projects in the areas of software development, system administration, AI/ML, and DevOps.
  • Metrics and Analysis: Utilize metrics and data analysis to refine content strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives while maintaining a strong focus on producing high-quality educational content.
  • Editorial Skills: Apply your editorial skills to improve the technical details, explanations, and quality of writing in each tutorial to ensure the best outcomes for developers.
  • Collaboration: Ensure strong collaboration and partnership with other teams including Developer Marketing, Developer Community, and Developer Advocacy.
  • Testing and Maintenance: Test the tutorials you publish to ensure they work and prioritize the maintenance of content based on various metrics and business cases.
Requirements
  • Technical Writing Experience: Previous experience writing and editing technical content for technical communities on topics such as software development, AI/ML, or system administration.
  • Programming Skills: Experience with at least one of the following front-end languages or frameworks: JavaScript, React, or Angular. Experience with at least one of the following back-end languages or frameworks: Go, Python, Ruby, or Django.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to explain software development concepts and best practices and research new and unfamiliar subjects.
  • Feedback and Collaboration: Comfort with providing and receiving honest and thorough feedback.
  • Linux and Server Administration: Experience with the Linux command line, server web application setup, deployment, and overall Linux server administration is a plus.
  • DigitalOcean Products and Content Library: Familiarity with DigitalOcean's existing content library and DigitalOcean products is a plus.

We reward our employees with a salary range of $136,000 to $170,400 based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees, including equity grants upon hire and the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
