Position Overview:

The Senior Textile Innovation Engineer plays a vital role in engaging with clients to comprehend their requirements and promoting effective pathways for product development that enable the swift commercialization of new innovations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a key liaison between our design and technical teams, ensuring customer insights are effectively translated into the development of new textile innovations.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Product Development to establish comprehensive product innovation roadmaps.
  • Research and engage with new innovation partners to bolster Shawmut's capabilities in innovation.
  • Facilitate, coordinate, and inspire our innovation partners to develop collaborative solutions for product and process innovation.

Potential partners may include global textile collaborators, specialty material providers, external processors, and internal product development and design teams.


  • Work closely with Shawmut's Innovation laboratory to create detailed testing plans that support the development of innovations.
  • Keep company stakeholders informed about innovation activities to streamline product and process commercialization.

Stakeholders will encompass the executive team, business development, supply chain management, program management, and other relevant functional areas.


  • Align innovation initiatives with Shawmut's Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Lead or participate in stage-gate reviews for key innovation projects.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Science/Engineering or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in a related engineering, technical, or technical sales role, with a focus on new process and product development in textiles.
  • Experience in innovation management is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
  • Proficiency in software applications such as MS Office Suite and Outlook; knowledge of statistical software like Minitab or Jump is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
