POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Mechanical Product Engineer is tasked with the mechanical framework, design, and integration of various products, tools, testers, and components. This role leverages extensive experience and knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and methodologies to create mechanical and electromechanical products and systems by developing and validating specifications and methods. The engineer comprehends equipment needs alongside business and customer demands that inform the design of technical solutions and engages in all stages of the product development lifecycle, including concept analysis, prototype evaluation, design, production initiation, ongoing production support, and end-of-life assistance for designed equipment, as well as supporting engineering teams for application configuration and startup assistance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assess and develop mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and executing research initiatives, applying relevant engineering principles.
  • Validate system and product functionalities by designing feasibility studies and testing methodologies, evaluating properties, and establishing testing protocols.
  • Enhance manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of components.
  • Oversee and maintain the documentation and build of designs, prototypes, and experimental designs, while reporting product information through analysis and summarization of data and trends.
  • Provide engineering insights by addressing inquiries and requests from customers and other departments as necessary.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage projects and resources of moderate complexity and assignments lasting up to six months.
  • Review the work of and mentor junior or intermediate engineers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master's) is preferred.
  • 5-8 years of professional engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in solid modeling and CAD software, particularly SolidWorks and Inventor.
  • Hands-on experience in constructing, testing, and troubleshooting mechanisms and machinery.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and supervising the work of less experienced staff.
  • Experience in supplier selection and qualification for high-quality components.
  • Proven ability to lead design for assembly (DFA) and design for manufacturability (DFM) initiatives within product development teams.
  • Familiarity with data capture for images, storage, and archiving, along with the ability to share them via company databases.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • High proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook, and Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, prioritization, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management, and planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including analysis, interpretation, and reasoning.
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Able to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as with internal and external clients.
  • Capable of working autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Able to influence peers and management effectively.
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.
PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and communicate effectively.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.
