Role Summary:
The Product Development Engineer plays a crucial role in translating customer insights into viable products. This position involves conducting essential engineering tasks to bring new offerings to market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineer and introduce new products into production, ensuring alignment with both customer expectations and company standards.
  • Act as a vital liaison among design, business development, and technical teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Work collaboratively with process specialists, material vendors, and clients to streamline product development efforts.
  • Lead and inspire innovation partners to develop effective product and process solutions.
  • Coordinate with Shawmut's Innovation laboratory to establish comprehensive testing protocols to support product development.
  • Keep stakeholders informed about ongoing product development initiatives, including executive leadership and various functional teams.

Strategic Alignment:
Ensure that product engineering activities are in sync with Shawmut's Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and participate in key project reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering discipline.
  • 1-3 years of experience in engineering, technical roles, or technical sales, particularly in new product and process development.
  • Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is advantageous.
  • Experience in textile engineering is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and statistical software such as Minitab or Jump is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
