Salary:
$90,000 - $112,000 per year

Job Overview

Position Summary:


We are looking for a skilled Geotechnical Field Specialist with a strong interest in marine environments. This role involves a commitment to working aboard our advanced research vessels, where you will be integral in conducting vital geotechnical assessments and contributing to pioneering scientific studies.

Your responsibilities will include performing essential investigations and collaborating with a diverse team of professionals.


Key Responsibilities:
As an Offshore Geotechnical Field Specialist, your primary duties will encompass:

  • Conducting geotechnical assessments and inspections aboard our research vessels, including soil sampling, testing, and geophysical surveys.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting geotechnical equipment to ensure peak performance during marine operations.
  • Documenting and reporting geotechnical findings, contributing to data analysis and interpretation.
  • Working alongside multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, and marine crew to meet project goals.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment at sea.
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of offshore projects, including logistics, equipment preparation, and deployment.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Geotechnical Field Technician or a comparable role on an offshore vessel.
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and electrical diagnostics, with a solid understanding of geotechnical equipment and tools.
  • A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Marine Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, capable of accurately documenting and reporting geotechnical findings.
  • Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to the demanding conditions of working at sea.
  • A valid seafarer's medical certificate and survival at sea training certificate would be advantageous.
