Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Geotechnical Field Specialist to join our team as a Permanent Marine Geotechnical Field Technician. In this role, you will be working on board our state-of-the-art research vessels, conducting essential geotechnical investigations and contributing to groundbreaking scientific research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform geotechnical investigations and inspections on board our research vessels, including soil sampling, testing, and geophysical surveys.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain geotechnical equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability during marine operations.
  • Document and report on geotechnical findings, and contribute to the analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, and marine crew to achieve project objectives.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment at sea.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of offshore projects, including logistics, equipment preparation, and deployment.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Geotechnical Field Technician or a similar role on an offshore vessel.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and electrical troubleshooting, with a strong understanding of geotechnical equipment and tools.
  • A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Marine Science, or a related field.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively document and report on geotechnical findings.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to the challenging conditions of working at sea.
  • A valid seafarer's medical certificate and survival at sea training certificate would be advantageous.
