JOB TITLE: Volunteer Support Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Programs

REPORTS TO: Program Manager - Site Based

PAY RANGE: $25.00/hour DOE with comprehensive benefits including vacation leave, sick days, personal days, and employer-paid health coverage.

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Full-time

ROLE SUMMARY:

We are seeking an individual who is enthusiastic about engaging with volunteers and enhancing recruitment strategies to support our community effectively. This role requires collaboration within a team to achieve organizational objectives.

The Volunteer Support Specialist will focus on recruiting, outreach, and interviewing volunteers, as well as developing and leading training sessions. This position will also involve maintaining communication with volunteers to ensure their success and satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and assess the need for new volunteers, collaborating with marketing to align outreach efforts.
  • Prepare and disseminate program materials, ensuring clear communication with mentors, youth, and guardians.
  • Manage a caseload of volunteers, guiding them from initial inquiry to active mentorship.
  • Facilitate orientation and training sessions for volunteers and partners.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders to ensure effective mentoring matches.
  • Document processes to uphold youth safety and program effectiveness.
  • Engage with partner organizations to foster collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Recognize and celebrate volunteer contributions, encouraging ongoing engagement.
  • Create a supportive community for volunteers to connect and share experiences.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set and monitor goals for volunteer engagement and satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with other departments to enhance partnerships and support agency initiatives.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development in areas such as equity, youth development, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in human services, education, or related fields; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with volunteers is advantageous.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license are required.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is essential.
  • Understanding of challenges faced by underserved populations is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with diverse groups.
  • Experience in training and facilitating workshops is beneficial.
  • Confidentiality and professionalism are critical.
  • Availability for flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Role involves working in various settings, including schools and community locations.
  • Office work is routine, with independent travel required.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
  • Work conditions are generally moderate in noise level.
