Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fastening Engineer to join our team at The BarTech Group, Inc. as a contract employee. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading global fastening tooling and standards to support future programs, campaign prevention, and reaction plans for Final Assembly manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Global Fastening Tooling and Standards: Develop and implement global fastening tooling and standards to support future programs, campaign prevention, and reaction plans for Final Assembly manufacturing facilities.
  • Program-Specific Fastening Projects: Lead program-specific fastening projects and strategies during the development phase of the program through sourcing and Purchase Order issuance.
  • Manufacturing Plant Collaboration: Work directly with NA Final Assembly Manufacturing plants to execute overall fastening strategy and ensure its implementation.
  • Fastening Tooling Standards: Define, maintain, and update fastening tooling standards to ensure consistency and efficiency across manufacturing facilities.
  • Program Costing: Assist in the development of and ensure full alignment on program costing to ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting.
  • New Fastening Technologies: Investigate, develop, and vet new fastening technologies and vendors to stay ahead of industry trends and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Global Manufacturing Standards: Develop procedures, Global Manufacturing Standards (GMR), Standard Cells, Gap Strategies with Product Development, Standard Costing for Future Model Programs, DC Tooling CAD Library in Teamcenter, and Updates to GVOSS.
  • Cross-Functional Team Collaboration: Work with Cross Functional Teams in PAC Papers and Stop Ships to further improve manufacturing standards and reduce warranty costs.
  • New Fastening Technology Implementation: Support the development and implementation of new fastening technology into our North American Plants, including Wireless Technology, Toolsnet 8, and Pulse Tool Technology.
  • Torque Strategies and Angle Monitoring: Implement Torque strategies and Angle Monitoring Limits into our North American Plants by gathering information from Product Development and gaining alignment with Product Development and the Plant during Launch Phases.
  • Toolsnet 8 Implementation: Support the implementation of Toolsnet 8 into our North American Plants to support Angle Monitoring and reducing FSAs.
  • Cost Studies: Drive Cost Studies to ensure Plants have Residual Torque Equipment, Torque Test Benches, TISS, TPPS, and Tool Tracker.
  • Online and Offline Repair Strategies: Lead the development of online and offline repair strategies involving Wireless Tooling Reporting to the Quality Operating System.
Requirements
  • Education: Minimum Bachelor's Degree
  • Skills and Experience: Self-motivated, organized, hands-on, and collaborative individual with a minimum of 2 years direct experience with manufacturing (Plant, VOME, PTME, etc.) - preferably across multiple skill teams.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, presentation, and communication ability.
  • Fastening Foundation: Fastening foundation with the ability to both learn and teach.
  • Travel and Interface: Ability to travel and interface with NA Manufacturing Plants.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Preferred Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects at once with great attention to detail, knowledge and experience with fastening equipment, assembly equipment, or joint design strategy, experience with Tooling Suppliers - Atlas Copco, Stanley, Ingersoll Rand, Estic, Etc., experience working with cradle to grave tooling development, experience implementing or auditing manufacturing requirements, standards, and procedures.
