Federal Affairs Director

The Position
We're seeking a highly skilled Federal Affairs Manager to lead the Port of Portland's federal government affairs strategies focused on policy, regulations, and funding before Congress and key agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective federal government affairs strategies to advance the Port's interests
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Congressional members and their staff, federal agencies, and industry partners
- Monitor and analyze federal policy developments and their impact on the Port's operations and goals
- Provide expert advice and guidance to Port leadership on federal government affairs matters
- Collaborate with other Port departments to ensure alignment and effective implementation of federal government affairs strategies
Requirements:
- Proven experience in federal government affairs, policy, or a related field
- Strong understanding of federal government operations, policies, and procedures
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
