Cybersecurity Engineer

Company Overview

KBR is in search of a proactive and resourceful individual to fill the role of Cybersecurity Engineer within the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC). This position requires adaptability to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, with the ability to operate both independently and collaboratively to support various stakeholders.

Role Overview

The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing our reputation through professionalism and adherence to best practices, ultimately fostering customer loyalty. You will be integrated into a team of engineers who provide support to Air Force Security Control Assessors (SCA) and Authorizing Officials (AO) in evaluating and bolstering cybersecurity measures for Air Force systems and applications transitioning to cloud environments, being developed in DevSecOps/Agile frameworks, or addressing enterprise IT modernization requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the cybersecurity of Air Force software development environments.
  • Collaborate with Air Force initiatives to secure applications and infrastructure within a DevSecOps framework.
  • Support the cybersecurity of various Air Force networks, systems, and applications as required.
  • Conduct thorough vulnerability and risk assessments for existing and upcoming networks, infrastructure, and applications.
  • Execute critical cybersecurity analyses, applying technical risk management principles to evaluate applications and systems.
  • Review and verify documentation to ensure compliance with established security requirements.
  • Assist in the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Assessment and Authorization (A&A) processes, facilitating successful Authority to Operate (ATO) outcomes.
  • Provide Authorization Recommendations to Security Control Assessors (SCA) and Authorizing Officials (AO).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% may be necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, accompanied by 10 years of relevant experience.
  • DoDM IAM Level III Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with DoD Instructions, NIST SP 800-53, AFI 17-101, and the Risk Management Framework is essential.
  • Experience with A&A processes and understanding of Authorization requirements and SCA/AO responsibilities is required.
  • Must possess a DoD Secret Security Clearance at the time of hire and maintain it; U.S. Citizenship is a prerequisite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of an active DoD Top Secret Clearance at the time of hire is advantageous.
  • ISC2 Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) certification is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS)
    • DevSecOps/Agile methodologies
    • Software application development
    • Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
    • Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware)
    • Containerization (e.g., Kubernetes)
    • Red Team or penetration testing
