Cybersecurity Engineer

Company Overview

KBR is in search of a proactive and enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Cybersecurity Engineer within the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC). This position requires adaptability to a dynamic and demanding environment, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to support various stakeholders.

Role Overview

As a key member of our innovative engineering team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing cybersecurity operations to fulfill the requirements of the U.S. Air Force. Your contributions will help us uphold professionalism and best practices, fostering customer loyalty through effective deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the cybersecurity posture of Air Force software development environments.
  • Collaborate with Air Force initiatives to ensure the security of applications and infrastructure within a DevSecOps framework.
  • Assist in securing various Air Force networks, systems, and applications as required.
  • Conduct thorough vulnerability assessments and risk evaluations for existing and future networks and applications.
  • Perform critical cybersecurity analyses and apply technical risk management principles to evaluate systems.
  • Review security documentation to verify compliance with established security standards.
  • Support the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Assessment and Authorization (A&A) processes, leading to successful Authority to Operate (ATO) outcomes.
  • Provide Authorization Recommendations to Security Control Assessors (SCA) and Authorizing Officials (AO).
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% may be necessary.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, accompanied by 10 years of relevant experience.
  • DoDM IAM Level III Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with DoD Instructions, NIST SP 800-53, AFI 17-101, and the RMF is essential.
  • Experience with A&A processes and the requirements of SCA/AO is required.
  • Possession of a DoD Secret Security Clearance is necessary at the time of hire and must be maintained. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance at the time of hire is preferred.
  • ISC2 Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) certification is advantageous.
  • The ideal candidate will possess skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS)
    • DevSecOps methodologies
    • Software application development
    • Cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure)
    • Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware)
    • Containerization (e.g., Kubernetes)
    • Red Team and penetration testing
