As a premier tier-one supplier in the automotive and industrial sectors located in the Greater Dayton/Cincinnati area, we are dedicated to the lightweighting of body structures. Our business is experiencing significant growth, and we are in the process of establishing a new facility to enhance our capabilities in precision aluminum extrusion. With this expansion, the opportunities for professional development are boundless.
Position Overview:
The selected candidate will leverage their expertise in lean methodologies to mentor and guide the management team in the application of SES principles and tools. By actively engaging on the shop floor, they will provide essential training and coaching to personnel across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Report directly to the Plant Manager and collaborate with division and corporate SES managers to enhance understanding of corporate standards and best practices.
  • Act as a champion for lean principles within the facility.
  • Transfer lean knowledge to the plant team through hands-on improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by leadership.

Continuous Improvement and Lean Development:
  • Enhance manufacturing efficiency by evaluating and planning workflow, spatial requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Support problem-solving teams to ensure quality production and a safe working environment.
  • Identify and assist in implementing cost-saving measures on the shop floor.
  • Develop and maintain training programs for supervisors, team leaders, and team members.

Launch Responsibilities:
  • Utilize lean tools to map processes and provide insights to the sales team regarding machine utilization, space, and labor needs.
  • Develop standardized work procedures and balance production lines for new programs in collaboration with manufacturing engineers.
  • Participate in regular launch team meetings to ensure adherence to lean guidelines.
  • Continuously assess maturation activities and identify opportunities to minimize maturation time.

Qualifications:
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in engineering or supply chain management is preferred. An Associate degree with 10+ years of relevant experience will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 3 years, preferably 5 years, of experience in implementing lean methodologies (such as the Toyota Production System) in a production environment.
  • Proficient in applying lean tools to enhance plant performance.
  • Familiarity with various lean tools including standard work, MIFC, SMED, pull systems, Kaizen, and Hoshin.
  • Strong interpersonal and training skills, with experience in educating teams on lean practices and leading Kaizen events.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, up to 10% of the time.
