As a comprehensive, tier-one supplier in the automotive and industrial sectors, we are dedicated to advancing lightweight body structures. Our operations are growing, and we are in the process of establishing a new facility to accommodate our expanding portfolio of precision aluminum extrusion projects. With significant growth underway, the potential for career advancement is boundless.
Position Overview: The selected candidate will leverage their lean expertise to mentor and assist the management team in implementing SES methodologies and tools. By actively engaging on the production floor, they will provide training and guidance to personnel across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
General Duties
- Report directly to the Plant Manager and collaborate with division and corporate SES leaders to enhance understanding of corporate standards and best practices.
- Serve as a champion for lean principles within the facility.
- Impart lean knowledge and experience to the plant team through hands-on improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by leadership.
Continuous Improvement and Lean Development
- Enhance manufacturing efficiency by assessing and optimizing workflow, spatial arrangements, and equipment layout.
- Support problem-solving teams to ensure the production of high-quality components and maintain a safe work environment.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction on the production floor.
- Develop and sustain training programs for supervisors, team leaders, and team members.
Launch Activities
- Utilize lean methodologies to map processes and provide necessary insights to the sales team regarding machine utilization, spatial needs, and labor requirements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to establish standardized work practices and balance production lines for new programs.
- Engage in regular launch team meetings to ensure adherence to lean guidelines.
- Continuously evaluate maturation processes and identify opportunities to expedite timelines.
Qualifications:
The following qualifications are essential for this role:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in engineering or supply chain management is preferred. An Associate degree combined with over 10 years of relevant experience will be considered.
- A minimum of 3 years, preferably 5 years, of experience in implementing lean methodologies (such as the Toyota Production System) in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in applying lean tools to enhance plant performance.
- Familiarity with various lean tools, including standard work, MIFC, SMED, pull systems, Kaizen, and Hoshin.
- Strong interpersonal and training skills, with experience in educating teams on lean practices and leading Kaizen events.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Occasional travel may be required, up to 10% of the time.
