Chief Financial Strategist and Growth Executive

In light of our expanding services and clientele, we are in search of a dedicated and exceptional Chief Financial Strategist and Growth Executive to become a vital part of our enthusiastic team of fractional financial experts.

In this role, you will offer strategic CFO services, lead client teams, and ensure the quality of deliverables for our varied portfolio of clients while also spearheading new business initiatives for our expanding team.

Your contributions will be impactful and engaging, assisting businesses that are navigating transformation, growth, process enhancement, fundraising, preparing for an exit, or pursuing acquisitions.


Position Overview:


This is a proactive role for an entrepreneurial CFO who enjoys networking and sharing our narrative while collaborating with companies across diverse sectors.

You will have the chance to utilize your network to generate new business opportunities for the firm.

You will serve as the primary liaison with your clients, ensuring the utmost level of client satisfaction, with accountability for the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of deliverables.

In certain engagements, you will lead a team of accounting professionals, while in others, you may provide solely strategic advice or guide prospects through the sales process.


Our clientele includes innovative startups, growth-stage companies, and private firms, in addition to venture capital (VC) and private equity (PE) backed organizations across a wide array of sectors (Technology, SaaS, Professional Services, Construction, Manufacturing, eCommerce, Healthcare, Consumer Packaged Goods, FinTech, Real Estate, and more).

We seek a CFO with a strong passion for business development and substantial experience in these sectors, particularly those familiar with venture-backed enterprises and capital raising.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate directly with CEOs and executive teams to formulate and implement financial strategies.
2. Provide strategic business counsel to clients.
3. Articulate the Ascent CFO narrative and communicate our value propositions to potential clients and referral partners.
4. Develop and maintain financial models, rolling forecasts, and cash flow projections.
5. Oversee the budgeting process and analyze variances between budgeted and actual figures.
6. Assist clients in fundraising and/or mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities.
7. Manage Ascent CFO and/or client resources to ensure the completion of month-end closing and reporting packages.
8. Facilitate client onboarding, which may involve an assessment phase.
9. Establish and implement suitable accounting processes and internal controls.
10. Identify and monitor key trends and metrics.
11. Develop and maintain executive dashboards and key performance indicator (KPI) monitoring and reporting.
12. Coordinate and manage the annual audit and tax return processes.
13. Provide financial reporting to key Board of Directors members and shareholders.
14. Utilize cold calling, outreach, and networking to achieve results.
15. Maintain a robust sales pipeline to exceed revenue targets.

The Ideal Candidate:
Possesses 15+ years of experience in accounting and finance roles, with prior experience in a full-time CFO position.
Holds a CPA license or MBA, strongly preferred.
May not have formal business development or sales experience, but is someone who enjoys networking and sharing our story with both new and existing connections, and asking for referrals.
Thrives as a strategic leader, most comfortable being the "right hand" to the CEO.
Has considerable experience in building financial forecasts and cash flow models.
Possesses significant experience in raising capital within the venture capital landscape.
Exhibits a passion for dynamic leadership within the finance and accounting organization.
Maintains a strong network to generate new business leads.
Is comfortable being "hands-on" with accounting and ERP systems, including QBOnline, NetSuite, Intacct, and other accounting platforms.
Demonstrates strong proficiency with MS Excel and Google Sheets.


Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate based on experience, complemented by a robust commission structure.
