You will serve as the primary liaison for your clients, ensuring exceptional client satisfaction while being accountable for the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of deliverables.

In certain projects, you will lead a team of accounting professionals, while in others, you may provide solely strategic advice or guide prospects through the sales process.

Our clientele includes innovative startups, growth-stage companies, and private enterprises, as well as VC- and PE-backed firms across various sectors (Technology, SaaS, Professional Services, Construction, Manufacturing, eCommerce, Healthcare, CPG, FinTech, Real Estate, and more).

We seek a CFO who is passionate about business development and possesses substantial experience in these sectors, particularly with venture-backed firms and fundraising.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate directly with CEOs and executive teams to formulate and implement financial strategies.
  • Provide strategic business counsel to clients.
  • Communicate the Ascent CFO narrative and articulate our value propositions to potential clients and referral partners.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, rolling forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Oversee the budgeting process and analyze variances between budgeted and actual figures.
  • Assist clients with fundraising and/or M&A activities.
  • Manage Ascent CFO and/or client resources to ensure timely completion of month-end close and reporting packages.
  • Onboard clients, which may involve an assessment phase.
  • Establish and implement suitable accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Identify and monitor key trends and metrics.
  • Create and maintain executive dashboards and KPI reporting.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit and tax return processes.
  • Provide financial reporting to key Board members and shareholders.
  • Utilize cold calling, outreach, and networking to achieve business objectives.
  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline to exceed revenue targets.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • 15+ years of experience in accounting and finance roles, with prior experience in a full-time CFO position.
  • CPA license or MBA is highly preferred.
  • May not have formal Business Development or Sales experience, but possesses a passion for networking and sharing our story.
  • Enjoys the process of securing new clients, ensuring they receive exceptional service.
  • Demonstrated experience as a strategic leader, comfortable being the trusted advisor to the CEO.
  • Extensive experience in building financial forecasts and cash flow models.
  • Significant experience in raising capital within the venture capital arena.
  • Passionate about leading with energy within the finance and accounting domain.
  • A strong network to cultivate new business opportunities.
  • Proficient in accounting and ERP systems, including QBOnline, NetSuite, Intacct, and other platforms.
  • Strong skills in MS Excel and Google Sheets.

Compensation:
$130-140/hour based on experience, plus a competitive commission structure.

Benefits:
Employee health, dental, and vision insurance; 401K match; quarterly stipend for educational or professional development; paid sick and holiday leave; opportunities for promotion and mentorship.
