Position Overview:
We are looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to enhance our Test Equipment Engineering team focused on aerospace products and systems.

This role encompasses the development of electrical specifications, systems-level requirements, and the design and layout of intricate automated test equipment.

Our standard hardware solutions for testing utilize National Instruments PXI, cRIO, and LabVIEW platforms. Exceptional electrical troubleshooting abilities are essential for success in this position.

The Principal Engineer will ensure that both new and existing automated test setups fulfill product testing and coverage requirements.

This role is intended for an experienced individual contributor who is adept in all facets of the development lifecycle and may also lead small projects while mentoring junior team members.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, analyze, and troubleshoot electrical circuits, test systems, and PCB products.
2. Develop and maintain comprehensive test documentation, plans, procedures, and reports.
3. Create detailed design documents and test requirements.
4. Collaborate with vendors to produce sophisticated automated test equipment.
5. Diagnose complex issues related to software, hardware, systems, or products to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
6. Communicate technical challenges through various media including written, verbal, and presentations.
7. Provide support to manufacturing and operations teams to ensure timely product delivery.
8. Engage with customers, external suppliers, program managers, and various engineering disciplines to facilitate project success.
9. Manage multiple projects with small teams of test engineers and outsourced hardware builds.

Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless local laws/regulations dictate otherwise, along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or an Advanced Degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience; or, in the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Matlab, Simulink, and Mentor Graphics (Dxdesigner/Expedition).
- Strong electrical troubleshooting expertise.
- National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or Certified LabVIEW Embedded Developer (CLED) or equivalent software coding experience.
- Familiarity with standard avionics communication protocols including 1553, ARINC, CAN, RS485, RS232, and 1394.
- Experience with PXI-based National Instruments hardware, cRIO, FPGA, and data acquisition systems.
- Knowledge of project planning, budgeting, and Microsoft Project.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects, adapting to changing business needs.
