- Success in this role is measured by the ability to secure ongoing projects with both new and existing clients.
- Deliver innovative automation solutions and establish design standards, either independently or as a team leader.
- Conceptualize, detail, and execute control systems for industrial applications that align with client specifications.
- Develop control system architectures, select appropriate components, create schematic diagrams, and maintain comprehensive system documentation, with a strong understanding of PLC/HMI/SCADA systems.
- Possess extensive knowledge of control hardware, including control panel design, UL508A standards, motor control centers, hazardous area panel design, and industrial instrumentation.
- Demonstrate engineering experience across various voltage levels.
- For larger projects, familiarity with industrial networking for connecting control system components and instrumentation is advantageous.
- Design and implement a range of fiber, wired, and wireless systems using industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNET, Modbus, etc.).
- Exhibit a broad engineering skill set with the capability to work autonomously, serving as the technical lead on projects while mentoring junior engineers and technicians.
- In some instances, fulfill the project management role, which includes: Developing project execution plans, work breakdown structures, and associated budgets.
- Prioritize tasks, manage schedules, track time, and report progress.
- Oversee financial tracking and reporting, identify potential issues early, and manage conflicts while leading and supporting the team.
- Supervise daily operations and activities of projects with budgets up to $1.5M, ensuring overall project profitability.
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science is required.
- Experience: Over 10 years of relevant experience is preferred, with expertise in the following areas:
- Designing electrical schematics, including power distribution across various voltage levels.
- Experience in hazardous location control system design, including intrinsically safe circuits and explosion-proof panels.
- Knowledge of surge protection for power distribution and input/output protection.
- Ability to perform control panel calculations, including FLA, heating/cooling, and SCCR.
- Comprehensive understanding of the control panel production process.
- Familiarity with PLC hardware/software platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Modicon.
- Knowledge of HMI/SCADA platforms like Wonderware, GE iFIX, and Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View.
- Understanding of DCS platforms such as Emerson DeltaV or similar systems.
- Experience in sectors including Water/Wastewater Treatment, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Oil and Gas, and Mining.
- Proven track record of leading teams to deliver control system solutions and mentoring junior engineers.
- Professional references from a subordinate, a peer, and a manager are preferred.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Willingness to travel up to 25% within the local area, with occasional travel to neighboring regions.
