Position Summary

The role of a Technical Operations Engineer is critical in maintaining the operational integrity of our autonomous vehicles. You will engage in meticulous preparation and analysis to ensure that our systems perform optimally throughout their operational lifespan. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, aimed at enhancing vehicle reliability and facilitating rapid product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of complex sensor systems and their integration within operational frameworks.
  • Deliver technical support to production and operations teams, addressing and resolving issues promptly.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams to drive root cause analysis and implement improvements.
  • Design and execute strategies to enhance the performance and reliability of our systems.
  • Conduct system integration testing to assess the effectiveness of proposed solutions.
  • Provide on-call technical support for troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and networking challenges.
  • Assist in the integration of new technologies, ensuring seamless transitions from development to operational deployment.
  • Participate in global travel to facilitate the deployment of vehicles for various missions.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of experience in servicing complex embedded systems or similar products.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, with flexibility in working hours as needed.
  • Proficient in interpreting electrical diagrams and mechanical systems to diagnose and repair issues.
  • Familiarity with engineering principles across electrical, mechanical, and materials domains.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new challenges and urgent situations.
  • Experience with Linux OS command-line tools for data acquisition and diagnostics.
  • Capability to write and comprehend basic shell scripts for diagnostic tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on maintaining accurate records and improving processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
  • Commitment to safety and sound judgment in unfamiliar environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in engineering roles related to field operations, testing, or integration.
  • Knowledge of service-level objectives and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and API interactions.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools for design and engineering applications.
  • Experience in project management and documentation practices.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including international destinations.
  • Physical capability to work on-site and lift up to 50 lbs.
