Position Summary
As a Technical Operations Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the operational success of our autonomous vehicles throughout their lifecycle. Your expertise will be essential in troubleshooting and enhancing the reliability of our systems, thereby supporting our mission to deliver impactful data from the world's oceans.
Key Responsibilities
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of complex sensor systems and their integration within operational frameworks.
- Provide exceptional internal support to production and operations teams, addressing technical challenges swiftly.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct thorough root cause analyses and implement effective solutions.
- Evaluate and refine engineering processes to enhance system performance and reliability.
- Deliver on-call technical support for troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues.
- Assist in the integration of new technologies and systems, ensuring smooth transitions from development to operational use.
- Participate in global travel to facilitate the deployment of vehicles for various missions.
Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of experience in servicing complex embedded systems or consumer products.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, with flexibility for extended hours as needed.
- Proficient in interpreting electrical diagrams and mechanical systems to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Familiarity with engineering principles across electrical, mechanical, and materials domains.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to adapt quickly to new challenges.
- Experience with Linux operating systems and command-line tools for data analysis and troubleshooting.
- Capability to write basic shell scripts to enhance diagnostic processes.
- Excellent organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams.
- Safety-conscious with a strong judgment to ensure safe operations in various environments.
Preferred Experience
- Background in field engineering, test engineering, or operations engineering.
- Experience with service-level objectives and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with network protocols and APIs.
- Proficiency in CAD tools for design and prototyping.
- Ability to produce clear documentation and process standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
