About the Role

Saildrone Inc is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and take our in-house harness manufacturing to the next level. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality products are shipped to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement lean manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste in our high-mix, low-volume production environment.
  • Setup and optimize workstations and production flows based on lean manufacturing best practices.
  • Develop and implement quality control inspections and tests to ensure high-quality products.
  • Define and validate standard process times for operations to balance work across workstations and technicians.
  • Foster positive relationships with technicians to ensure smooth process changes and collaboration.
  • Complete projects to improve operations, including adding automation, insourcing, and cutting-edge tooling.
  • Enable vertical integration by identifying opportunities for strategic in-sourcing, reducing costs, and increasing speed of iteration.
  • Participate in prototype and first-article builds for new product introductions, providing design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) feedback.
  • Respond promptly to continuous improvement opportunities and work instruction improvements.
  • Directly troubleshoot and provide technical support for assembly line issues to unblock production.
  • Ensure virtual factory processes are executed properly and lead continuous improvement of those processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or similar).
  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering role, with emphasis on supporting production activities, and evidence of increasing scope of work.
  • New Production Introduction experience, with execution of new product launch through capacity acceleration.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and cross-functional interpersonal skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 35+ lbs and spend some extended periods of time standing.
