About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sous Chef to join our team at St. Francis House. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the smooth operation of our kitchen.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in training and overseeing the day-to-day work of volunteers and staff in food preparation and service activities.
  • Prepare and distribute meals, ensuring they are nutritious, well-balanced, and served in a timely manner.
  • Minimize waste while maintaining high food production quality standards.
  • Ensure the kitchen is safe and all equipment is clean and sanitized.
  • Develop and maintain sanitation tutorials and schedules.
  • Manage deliveries and oversee proper inventory procedures.
  • Communicate with the Head Chef to maintain accurate invoices.
  • Complete written reports of incidents and accidents in the kitchen.
Requirements
  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Further education in culinary arts is a plus.
  • Six months of kitchen and dining room related experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ServSafe Certification.
  • Experience working in homeless services is a plus.
