Our holistic, two-generation approach not only supports teen parents in their educational journeys but also ensures their children are set up for success. We have made significant strides in providing tuition assistance and fostering partnerships with educational institutions nationwide.

Role Impact:

The Family Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing cases and coordinating programs to facilitate healthy mentoring relationships for Generation Hope Scholars. This position will have a direct impact through:

  • Offering dedicated support to teen parents in the D.C. metro area.
  • Assisting Scholars in preparing their children for educational success.
  • Planning engaging activities for Scholars, their children, and volunteer mentors.
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with community organizations.
  • Providing evaluation support to ensure program objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of 10-15 Scholar Families, providing comprehensive case management, including:
    • Conducting monthly home visits focused on parenting.
    • Assisting with academic planning and navigating college systems.
    • Making referrals to community services and providing emotional support.
    • Ensuring children access quality early childhood education.
  • Oversee mentoring relationships, addressing any conflicts sensitively.
  • Collaborate with Resource Families to advocate for Scholars' needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and case notes for program evaluation.
  • Assist in organizing monthly Family Dinners for Scholar Families.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with young adults, especially teen parents.
  • At least 2 years of experience with young children and their families, ideally in early literacy.
  • Strong record-keeping and data entry skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to build rapport and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Commitment to understanding and addressing systemic racism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
  • Flexibility to accommodate the schedules of Scholars and their families.
  • Access to reliable transportation for regular site visits.
  • Experience in counseling or case management is a plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is an advantage.

Note: Candidates must reside in the Washington, D.C., Virginia, or Maryland area prior to the employment start date. Generation Hope operates under a hybrid remote and in-office model.
