Position Overview:
At Houston Methodist, the Senior Patient Services Representative plays a crucial role in enhancing the patient experience by managing check-in and check-out procedures, as well as scheduling appointments efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will handle more intricate scheduling processes and serve as a mentor to junior staff members. Your contributions will ensure timely and accurate claims submissions while supporting various revenue cycle functions. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Performing patient check-in and check-out duties, ensuring accurate data entry for scheduling and registration.
  • Coordinating patient flow effectively, adhering to established protocols to minimize delays.
  • Acting as a resource for resolving issues and mentoring less experienced colleagues.

Service Excellence:
Utilizing exceptional communication skills, you will provide high-quality service to patients, physicians, and team members. Your role will involve:

  • Responding promptly to inquiries and addressing urgent situations as they arise.
  • Contributing to overall satisfaction for patients, employees, and physicians while supporting the revenue cycle.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks and generating departmental reports as needed.

Quality and Safety Functions:
As a liaison between patients, medical staff, and external parties, you will ensure effective communication regarding patient access and service quality. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing patient information.
  • Accurately entering operational data into various systems to support departmental efficiency.

Financial Responsibilities:
Your role will also encompass financial duties, including:

  • Accurate charge entry, registration, and insurance verification to meet financial objectives.
  • Educating patients about billing processes and potential financial responsibilities.

Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:
Minimum of five years of experience, including three years in a healthcare-related role.

Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in communication, customer service, and basic computer applications is essential. A solid understanding of medical terminology and revenue cycle processes is also required.

Work Environment:
Business professional attire is expected. This position does not require on-call duties or travel.
