Job Overview

The Territory Sales Engineer (TSE) is responsible for overseeing the commercial activities within their designated region, aiming to enhance overall sales and profitability. A key aspect of this role is to effectively sustain existing revenue streams and profitability, which serves as the foundation for future growth.

The TSE may engage in various activities within the assigned territory, determining the necessary actions and coordinating efforts to ensure alignment with the company's overarching Global Vision, Sales Vision, and Sales Model.

This position is crucial for the success and efficiency of the sales team operating in the region. All sales and customer service personnel, including Sales Application Engineers, Regional Sales Representatives, and Customer Service Representatives, work collaboratively to achieve the objectives set for the territory.

The TSE plays a vital role in executing the defined responsibilities of the sales organization, ensuring that all activities in the market are effectively coordinated. Typically, a TSE reviews and qualifies all regional activities, ensuring that the most suitable sales resources are deployed for each task.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee all activities related to maintaining and expanding business within the assigned territory.
  2. Implement the solution selling approach and collaborate with other members of the Sales Organization to ensure successful outcomes, both locally and globally.
  3. Manage all stages of the Order Creation process, including generating demand for products, responding to leads, initiating engineering assessments, determining pricing and supply terms, and producing technical reports and proposals.
  4. Develop and execute objectives, strategies, and tactics to ensure successful project completion.
  5. Conduct Annual Business Reviews with existing clients, taking necessary actions to modify supply terms when conditions require.
  6. Formulate, implement, and monitor the Annual Sales Call Plan, making adjustments as needed and communicating changes to all relevant team members.
  7. Engage with Operations regarding demand fluctuations to ensure customer satisfaction and mitigate inventory obsolescence risks.
  8. Address issues where customers deviate from proposal terms, particularly concerning planning/demand horizons and payment conditions.
  9. Handle technical and pricing matters, conducting order reviews and resolving routine discrepancies or assigning them to the appropriate personnel before order fulfillment.
  10. Collaborate closely with Customer Service teams to ensure high levels of customer responsiveness and support in sales-related matters.
  11. Coordinate all sales personnel within the territory and communicate with the Sales Manager regarding any unusual situations that may require adjustments in work assignments.
  12. Travel as necessary to support territory and company objectives, including executing annual sales call plans, developing new business opportunities, fostering customer relationships, and resolving service or business issues.
  13. Perform quarterly sales analyses and annual forecasts for existing clients.
  14. Complete additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
