Position Overview: The Radiation Safety Program Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the management of the Radiation Safety Program.

This program is responsible for overseeing the licensing and utilization of radioactive materials across numerous research laboratories, as well as managing various medical services related to radiation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Radiation Safety Officer in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Act as a qualified expert for the registration of radiation-producing equipment.
  • Support the implementation of safety protocols in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Contribute to the management of contracts related to radiation safety services.
  • Participate in the design and oversight of safety programs for lasers and magnetic fields.
  • Conduct evaluations and audits to ensure adherence to safety policies.
  • Provide training to personnel exposed to ionizing radiation.
  • Assist in planning and organizing meetings for the Radiation Safety Committee.
  • Engage in the development of safety measures for new facilities.

Working Environment: The role involves working in an office setting while also handling radioactive materials and waste. Physical mobility is required to navigate various locations.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field with four years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with eight years of experience.
  • Experience in project management and supervisory roles is essential.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory compliance and safety standards.
