Position Summary

As a Traveling Safety Engineer, you will collaborate with project teams and the client's safety personnel to enforce corporate safety and health protocols in line with federal, state, and local regulations. Your role will involve actively contributing to the development of a zero-injury safety culture across various projects. Responsibilities include conducting regular jobsite safety inspections, delivering safety orientations for new workers, reviewing subcontractor safety analyses, and promoting proactive safety measures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and lead weekly safety meetings with subcontractor representatives and project teams to ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Assist in formulating the project's safety program.
  • Manage the orientation program for new workers and ensure proper identification for those who complete it.
  • Participate in initial meetings with project staff and subcontractors to clarify roles in the safety program.
  • Conduct pre-planning safety meetings with subcontractors to establish safety protocols prior to their activities on-site.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive worksite orientation for incoming personnel.
  • Ensure that subcontractors designate a trained safety representative capable of addressing safety concerns.
  • Facilitate training for site personnel and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
  • Maintain records of subcontractor toolbox safety meetings.
  • Review subcontractor safety programs to ensure compliance with project safety criteria.
  • Conduct monthly safety overview meetings and participate in project staff meetings to discuss safety issues.
  • Perform daily and weekly jobsite inspections, documenting any violations and corrective actions.
  • Report and document any infractions or unsafe practices for immediate corrective action.
  • Assist in developing fire prevention and evacuation protocols as needed.
  • Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports.
  • Maintain all necessary safety documentation.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of safety experience or a combination of education and relevant construction experience.
  • Strong leadership, management, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety and Health or a related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • OSHA 30-hour construction certification required.
  • OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer certification is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to navigate construction sites, including climbing ladders and stairs.
  • Physical capability to lift and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions and construction hazards.
  • Full-time travel to various job sites is required.
