Job Overview

Position Summary

This role is pivotal in assisting our project execution team throughout all phases of construction projects. The individual will engage with clients and collaborate with our engineering and architectural leads, project management personnel, and legal advisors. Direction will be provided by the leadership of our project execution team. Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:

Preconstruction and Procurement Duties

  • Identify and evaluate subcontractors and vendors for essential project bid packages.
  • Guide design teams in defining package scope breakdowns that align with labor capabilities in specific project locations.
  • Oversee the subcontractor and vendor prequalification process.
  • Enhance the existing prequalification procedures.
  • Facilitate contract negotiations with subcontractors and vendors alongside our project management and legal teams.
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with preferred subcontractors and vendors.
  • Collaborate with estimating teams to ensure unit costs reflect current market conditions.
  • Monitor, manage, and negotiate volume discounts and integrator-OEM pricing.
  • Work with project management to establish and adhere to procurement schedules aligned with project timelines.
  • Assist project and construction management in addressing underperforming subcontractors and vendors.
  • Explore options for engaging additional subcontractors to mitigate delays and replace underperforming parties.
  • Conduct 'Lessons Learned' sessions with clients and key subcontractors to foster relationships and refine operational processes.
  • Collaborate with project and construction management to enhance subcontractor work completion tracking.

Construction and Post-Construction Duties

  • Support project and construction management in managing subcontractor and vendor performance.
  • Identify additional subcontractor options to assist with delayed work or to replace underperforming vendors.
  • Facilitate 'Lessons Learned' meetings with clients and key subcontractors to strengthen relationships and improve processes.
  • Work with project and construction management to refine subcontractor work completion tracking methodologies.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in procurement for capital projects is advantageous.
  • Ability to analyze purchase orders and contracts effectively.
  • Familiarity with engineering and architectural drawings and technical specifications is preferred.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements

  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Exposure to construction site hazards and varying weather conditions on uneven terrain.
  • Noise levels may vary from moderate to loud on site.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 10% travel may be necessary to visit project sites and other offices.
